On Monday I got an email from Audible informing me that a followup book to Start With Why had been released. As that book is one of my favourites of this year I had to see what this new one was. Discovering my Why has honestly been one of the most inspirational and motivational things I have done this year.

Last week I had a flash of inspiration while listening to Deep Work. In the book it mentioned about brain training using a deck of cards and I thought "I wonder if if I can make that even better?"
So here I present to you the ultimate dental geek stocking filler. A deck of cards so that you can test yourself and improve your understanding of dental anatomy, development and endodontic treatment. On one side is a selection of screenshots of a tooth from each surface to try to identify and the other side tells you what tooth it is, when it erupts, how many canals to expect etc. Just creating it has already deepened my understanding of anatomy and I am hoping dental students with a spare 5 minutes will also benefit from testing themselves with it. I wish I created this back at uni as a revision aid. Over time I may add to these hence why there is empty space on many. I would love to know what you think. How much deep (intense) work do you do? Are you constantly multitasking (at least mentally) or are you truly able to give your undivided attention to a specific task?
In Deep Work, Cal Newport explores these questions and explains the importance of considering this if you want to really produce your best work and make big progress in your career. |
