I have recently become quite interested in the topic of mindfulness and meditation. So many highly successful people mention the importance of meditation in their daily routine and the broader topic of mindfulness connects with my logical brain. So I have just finished listening to the great courses lecture series on mindfulness by Professor Mark Muesse.

12 months ago I was inspired to set some goals for 2017. One of them was to read a bit more this year than I have in the past. Well it seems that I may have been successful in that goal seeing as I have so far worked my way through 40 books in the past 11 months.
Through December I am going to be changing things up a bit and will be doing a fair bit of reflection on what I have learnt this year. I will be discussing how that learning has influenced me and how I may push things forward into 2018. I will also be going back to refresh some of the ideas I have discussed previously but expanding on them and refining those ideas now that I have had months of putting them into practice. Reflecting on this month it feels like I have achieved a lot, in terms of work, reading and also in my outlook on many non-dental things in my life.
A fascinating thought that ties together threads from so many books, blogs and discussions.
Productivity ninja, getting things done, deep work, the organized mind, finding flow, the critical thinking lectures, zen to done, peak performance, black box thinking. Only now do I realise that in their own way, all of them are tackling this question. The next line in The art of learning is: “I believe the answers to this question are the gateway to the most esoteric levels of elite performance.” It’s not what you know but what you are able to do with that knowledge. |
